According to the report, the attackers later also targeted the airport and the presidential building in Niamey.<\/p>\n<p>The clashes led to hours of gunfire and explosions in the capital, and state television and radio broadcasts were also interrupted for a time. Niger Press Agency later reported that the situation in Niamey was gradually returning to normal.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, traffic has resumed on the road leading to Niamey&#8217;s international airport, and shops, shopping centres and petrol stations have also reopened.<\/p>\n<p>The incident is the latest threat to the administration of Abdourahamane Tiani, who took power after the 2023 coup.
