Traders have asked the Taliban administration to provide alternative and faster routes for transporting commercial goods.

Based on the information provided, most of these exports went to India, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Canada. Traders say Kandahar’s horticultural products, especially pomegranates, grapes, almonds and various dried fruits, have steady buyers in foreign markets and demand for them is increasing.

They have also called for greater facilitation in the issuance of business visas, saying restrictions on the movement of traders have made marketing and the expansion of export networks difficult. According to them, without removing these obstacles, maintaining and expanding new markets will be difficult.

Reports also show that Kandahar’s fruit production capacity has increased in recent years, but a lack of infrastructure in packaging, cold storage and processing industries continues to prevent full use of this capacity. Kandahar, in southern Afghanistan, is considered one of the country’s key horticultural provinces, and its fruit products have long accounted for a significant share of Afghanistan’s agricultural exports.

Kandahar traders say transit problems and visa restrictions are slowing the export of 294,000 tonnes of fresh and dried fruit.

[7,17

post-20598","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
