The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has said the Taliban administration has launched a psychological and cognitive campaign aimed at damaging the front\u2019s moral credibility and spiritual capital. The front says the move is intended to undermine the image of resistance and influence public opinion in both public and online spaces.<\/p>\n
In a statement published today, Thursday, 5 Sonbola, the National Resistance Front said the Taliban administration is seeking to harm the group by \u201cinstrumentalising the sacred name of women, deploying cyber armies and digital bots, and colluding with fanatical circles.\u201d The statement also said the process is, according to the resistance front, an \u201cintelligence and multi-layered project.\u201d<\/p>\n
The National Resistance Front added that the project is financed through \u201cplundering public funds and misusing foreign aid.\u201d The front also claimed that after failing to suppress the resistance, the Taliban administration has now turned, in its account, to a new scenario of psychological and propaganda pressure.<\/p>\n
Part of the statement said the Taliban administration has \u201cfailed\u201d over the past five years in denying and suppressing the resistance and is now, in the face of a \u201cmilitary deadlock,\u201d \u201clack of popular legitimacy\u201d and \u201cinternational isolation,\u201d resorting to a broad psychological war. The National Resistance Front urged people not to allow public and online spaces to become tools for achieving the aims of this campaign.<\/p>\n
The statement was released a week after the killing of Hasib Panjshiri, one of the commanders of the National Resistance Front. He was killed last week along with two other members of the front in Salang, but the resistance front has so far provided no details on how he and his companions were killed.<\/p>\n
Taliban-affiliated media have claimed that Hasib Panjshiri had recently entered Afghanistan from Pakistan and was killed in an ambush in Salang. At the same time, his death prompted widespread reactions and expressions of sympathy, and political groups opposed to the Taliban administration also offered condolences.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, Taliban media highlighted allegations made against Hasib Panjshiri during the previous government and described him as a \u201cthief.\u201d The Taliban administration has also arrested a number of citizens who expressed sympathy after his death.<\/p>\n
Salang is considered one of the key routes between northern and central Afghanistan, and security incidents on this road usually receive wide political and media attention.
