The Afghanistan Cricket Board said Afghanistan has secured a seat in the leadership process of the Asian Cricket Council and the right to host major Asian competitions at the council\u2019s latest annual general meeting.<\/p>\n
According to the board, the decision was proposed by Mirwais Ashraf, the chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, and was then supported and approved by members of the Asian Cricket Council.<\/p>\n
The Afghanistan Cricket Board described the development as a sign of the growing standing of Afghan cricket in Asia, saying the seat could create a stronger role for Afghanistan in decisions related to Asian cricket.<\/p>\n
The board also said Afghanistan could go on to play a greater role in hosting important competitions under the umbrella of the Asian Cricket Council.<\/p>\n
The Afghanistan Cricket Board thanked the members of the Asian Cricket Council for their support and trust, adding that it would continue efforts to develop cricket in Afghanistan and across Asia.<\/p>\n
The Asian Cricket Council\u2019s latest annual general meeting was held yesterday in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Heads and chief executives of cricket bodies from member countries attended the meeting.
