Reuters has reported, citing informed sources, that Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir spoke by telephone with U.S. President Donald Trump before his trip to Tehran.<\/p>\n
The report comes a day after Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said that Asim Munir would travel to Tehran on Monday at the head of an official delegation.<\/p>\n
According to the spokesman, the visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, as well as continuing Pakistan’s efforts to help promote peace and security in the region.<\/p>\n
According to Iranian officials, the Pakistan Army chief will meet and hold talks with senior Iranian officials during the visit.<\/p>\n
Reuters did not provide further details about the content of the telephone call between Asim Munir and Donald Trump.
