Local residents and travellers say the lack of road signs in Nawur district of Ghazni province, together with heavy snowfall and severe cold, has repeatedly caused people to get lost and die. They are calling on the relevant authorities to mark the main routes across the plain and clear the roads of snow during winter.<\/p>\n
According to residents, Nawur Plain is a junction of multiple roads, which increases the danger for those unfamiliar with the area. They say that on stormy, snowy and rainy days, drivers sometimes stray from the main route and lose their way.<\/p>\n
Nawur Plain is an important transit route for residents of Nawur, Ajristan, Malistan and other parts of Ghazni, and some residents of Daykundi and Bamyan also use it. However, travellers say the difficulty of travel on this route is beyond the capacity of local people and requires attention from the responsible authorities.<\/p>\n
The head of Ghazni’s Department of Information and Culture has also confirmed the problem, saying efforts will be made to install signs identifying the main routes across Nawur Plain. Hamidullah Nisar, the head of the department, said Nawur is a large plain with roads leading to different districts and areas, and these routes need to be marked.<\/p>\n
