Israel has barred two European Parliament members from Sweden from entering the West Bank, in a move that once again highlights restrictions on the movement of foreign officials to the occupied Palestinian territories.<\/p>\n
According to Sputnik, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar instructed authorities in the country yesterday to prevent the two lawmakers from entering. He said the two European Parliament members had planned to visit the Palestinian Authority.<\/p>\n
Saar said the decision was based on the pair’s previous positions. He said they had repeatedly criticized Israel in recent years and called for legal action against Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n
According to the report, the two lawmakers have accused Israel of committing genocide and targeting aid workers and children. The report said this is not the first time Israel has obstructed the entry of representatives of countries and UN officials into the occupied Palestinian territories.<\/p>\n
