The Afghanistan Media Support Organisation (AMSO) says censorship of media content and work-related pressure from Taliban intelligence on journalists and media outlets in Afghanistan have increased, limiting people\u2019s access to reliable information.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued on Sunday, 1 Sonbola, the organisation said forcing media outlets to use specific words in news content directly harms freedom of expression and the professional principles of journalism.<\/p>\n
AMSO added that committed and professional journalists inside Afghanistan are under severe psychological and work pressure, but despite this situation, they continue to inform the public.<\/p>\n
According to the organisation, holding unnecessary meetings with media outlets and their managers, determining publishing methods, and daily monitoring of media activities are among the factors that have made media independence vulnerable.<\/p>\n
AMSO stressed that media reflect the realities of society, and restrictions on media content deprive people of access to live, credible and trustworthy information.<\/p>\n
