The Taliban administration in Paktia has announced the start of reconstruction work on a 17-kilometre section of the main Ghardez-Khost road, a route officials said has been difficult for residents and vehicles to use.<\/p>\n
Qari Hassan Jan Jihadyar, head of Paktia\u2019s Department of Public Works, said the project includes a 17-kilometre road with a width of 7.20 metres, a 25-metre retaining wall and one bridge.<\/p>\n
According to him, the project will be implemented over six months at a cost of 122,398,811 Afghanis from the Taliban administration\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n
Jihadyar also said that reconstruction of another 20-kilometre section of the same road in the Sato Kando area, which has been severely damaged, will begin soon.<\/p>\n
Maulvi Mohammad Anwar Dinparwar, the deputy governor of Paktia, said at the launch ceremony that once the road is completed, the existing problems in the movement of people and vehicles along the route will be reduced.<\/p>\n
