Fifteen people were injured and 68 homes were damaged in a fire and explosion that occurred on Saturday in southwest Taiwan. According to the Taipei Times, the incident began at a landfill and took several hours to bring under control.<\/p>\n
The report said the fire first broke out in a pile of rubbish on vacant land before an explosion occurred. The cause of the blast is not yet clear and investigations are continuing.<\/p>\n
In the incident, 12 local residents and three firefighters were injured. Three homes near the blast site were also badly damaged, while damage to other buildings was reported to be less severe.<\/p>\n
To extinguish the fire and evacuate residents, 53 fire crews with more than 140 firefighters were deployed to the scene. Authorities said the fire has now been put out.<\/p>\n
