{"id":20086,"date":"2026-08-22T10:45:18","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T10:45:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/08\/22\/mahmood-khan-achakzai-pakistan-hostility-afghanistan-defence-pact\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T10:45:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T10:45:18","slug":"mahmood-khan-achakzai-pakistan-hostility-afghanistan-defence-pact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/08\/22\/mahmood-khan-achakzai-pakistan-hostility-afghanistan-defence-pact\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistani opposition leader urges Islamabad to end hostility toward Afghanistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mahmood Khan Achakzai has called on Pakistan to end what he described as \u201chostility toward Afghanistan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Pakistani media, he made the remarks at a meeting of opposition parties hosted by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Pakistan\u2019s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party.<\/p>\n<p>Achakzai said that if the Pakistani government believes Afghanistan is pursuing a hostile policy toward Islamabad, it should share its documents and evidence with the public.<\/p>\n<p>He also called on Pakistan&#8217;s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to explain to Pakistani citizens the country&#8217;s recent defence agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey.<\/p>\n<p>Achakzai further suggested that Iran and Egypt could also join the agreement. He claimed that expanding this cooperation could pave the way for the creation of an Islamic force.<\/p>\n<p>Mahmood Khan Achakzai is a well-known political figure in Pakistan and a critic of Islamabad&#8217;s policies toward Afghanistan.
