The Taliban administration has announced that the police law has been published in the official gazette after being signed off by the head of the administration, and is set to be implemented by its Ministry of Interior.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Justice said the law is organised into a preface, two chapters, five sections and 53 articles, and that responsibility for its implementation has been assigned to the Ministry of Interior.<\/p>\n
According to the ministry, the law defines the duties and powers of the police in the areas of security, border security, traffic, prisons, anti-narcotics efforts, kidnapping and human trafficking.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Justice statement added that the law also explains how individuals are to be identified, summoned and detained, how suspects are to be held, searches conducted and how police equipment is to be used.<\/p>\n
