Turkey’s Communications Directorate Head Burhanettin Duran, responding to recent Israeli remarks against Ankara, said Turkey would continue to counter what he called Benjamin Netanyahu’s destabilising activities and would also support Syria.<\/p>\n
He said Netanyahu’s attempt to create threats and imaginary enemies in order to influence public opinion around the world no longer had the same effect, while international criticism of Israel’s policies was increasing.<\/p>\n
According to Duran, Netanyahu and his allies are trying to attribute the consequences of crises caused by Tel Aviv’s policies to countries in the region. He said accusing Turkey after Israel’s attack on Syria was a clear example of this approach.<\/p>\n
The head of Turkey’s Presidency Communications Directorate added that Israel’s stance toward Turkey does not stem from security concerns, but rather from Ankara’s opposition to policies that, he said, weaken regional security and stability.<\/p>\n
He also said a number of Israeli politicians have acknowledged the deterioration in their country’s relations with its allies and the weakening of its international standing, and have accepted that escalating tensions with Turkey has brought no clear gains for Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n
Duran went on to call on Tel Aviv to stop its threats and end its targeting of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the expansion of settlements in the West Bank.
