According to him, this year’s higher yield is linked to improved care by orchard owners, better orchard productivity and the use of improved farming methods.

Alongside this increase, a number of Herat orchard owners have called for greater access to modern training in orchard care and crop harvesting. They say that teaching standard methods could raise both the quality of grapes and the level of production.

The orchard owners have also asked officials to create more opportunities for marketing, storage and export of grapes so their products can reach domestic and foreign markets at better prices.

Herat is considered one of Afghanistan’s major grape-producing provinces and has thousands of grape orchards. These orchards produce dozens of grape varieties, some of which are consumed fresh, while the bulk of the harvest is used to make raisins.

Herat’s grape harvest rises 10% this year to 191,950 tonnes, with farmers citing better care and improved farming methods.

[7,17

post-19998","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
