At least 30 miners have died and several others remain trapped under the rubble after a gold mine collapsed in western Central African Republic.<\/p>\n
The incident took place on Tuesday morning, Aug. 27, in the Aba area of Nana-Mamb\u00e9r\u00e9 prefecture. Local officials and residents said rescuers and people at the scene pulled 30 bodies from the debris after several hours of searching.<\/p>\n
According to local sources, a number of injured miners were also taken from the site to medical facilities. One rescued miner told The Associated Press that more people may still be trapped under the rubble, but hopes of finding them alive are fading.<\/p>\n
Local officials have called for assistance to continue rescue operations.
