The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that as humanitarian needs rise in Afghanistan, a shortage of funding has limited aid agencies’ ability to support people in need.<\/p>\n
Amy Martin, head of OCHA, said on Wednesday, 28 Asad, marking World Humanitarian Day, that now is the time for solidarity and action to support people in need. She also praised the courage of humanitarian workers in Afghanistan and said the organisation remains committed to continuing its support for the Afghan people.<\/p>\n
According to her, the continuation of humanitarian assistance is of urgent importance for the people of Afghanistan, a country that continues to struggle with poverty and hunger and needs urgent aid.<\/p>\n
OCHA had previously warned that limited financial resources make it difficult to deliver life-saving assistance to vulnerable people.
