Mohammed al-Farah, a senior member of Yemen’s Ansar Allah political bureau, said the United States is pressuring Saudi Arabia to prevent the opening of a new front in Yemen.<\/p>\n
He told Al Masirah that Riyadh is also trying to stop any escalation by forces aligned with it in Yemen, because it fears any new tension could damage the kingdom\u2019s oil interests and vital facilities.<\/p>\n
According to al-Farah, Saudi Arabia does not want the fighting to reach a level that would put its oil facilities, especially Aramco, at risk. He added that the expansion of tensions in Yemen is not in Riyadh\u2019s interest under the current circumstances.<\/p>\n
The Ansar Allah official also claimed that Washington wants to contain the tensions because it is concerned about the opening of a new front against its strategic interests. He said the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the pressure on the global energy transport chain have intensified those concerns.<\/p>\n
Al-Farah went on to say that domestic factions relying on foreign support and tying the country\u2019s fate to external interests could pay a heavy political and military price.<\/p>\n
