{"id":19628,"date":"2026-08-14T16:29:33","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T16:29:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/08\/14\/afghanistan-national-music-institute-new-song-taliban-restrictions\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T16:29:33","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T16:29:33","slug":"afghanistan-national-music-institute-new-song-taliban-restrictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/08\/14\/afghanistan-national-music-institute-new-song-taliban-restrictions\/","title":{"rendered":"National Music Institute to Release New Song in Protest at Taliban Restrictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Afghanistan National Institute of Music has announced that, to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the Taliban&#8217;s return to power, it will release a new song called &#8220;Adam and Eve&#8221; \u2014 a work the institute says focuses on freedom, equality, human dignity, hope, and the right to education and creation.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Friday, 23 Asad, the institute said the song will be released on Saturday, 15 August, at 7 p.m. Kabul time through the official pages of the Afghanistan National Institute of Music.<\/p>\n<p>The Afghanistan National Institute of Music said &#8220;Adam and Eve&#8221; was produced with performances by the Afghanistan Youth Orchestra and the institute&#8217;s singers, reflecting the voices of young Afghan girls and boys together. The music and lyrics are by Homayoun Morovat, while the arrangement and conducting were handled by Thiago Moreira da Silva.<\/p>\n<p>The institute said in its statement that, since the Taliban&#8217;s return, Afghan women and girls have been systematically denied access to education and large parts of public life, while freedom of expression and cultural activity have also faced broad restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>It added that the Taliban have also severely restricted music and artistic creation, and as a result, much of Afghanistan&#8217;s cultural and musical life has been silenced.
