The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has criticised the continued denial of education to girls in Afghanistan, saying that while every young person should have the opportunity to learn and build their future, that right is still not available to many girls.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, 22 Asad, OCHA wrote on X that every young person deserves access to education and the chance to develop their talents and abilities. The agency stressed that education plays a fundamental role in shaping young people’s future and should not be taken away from any young person.<\/p>\n
This comes as restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration continue to prevent girls from attending school and university. As a result of these restrictions, many girls in Afghanistan have been denied the opportunity to continue their education at higher levels.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) also said that Afghanistan is the only country in the world where girls and women are barred from education beyond the primary level.
