Following a violent clash between local residents and security forces in the Atagh market of Yaftal district, Badakhshan province, which resulted in several civilian and military casualties, a delegation led by the acting Minister of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities of the Taliban government has traveled to the province.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities of the Taliban issued a statement announcing that the delegation was dispatched to Badakhshan on the orders of Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Taliban Prime Minister, to investigate the incident. According to the ministry, the delegation, accompanied by Maulvi Amanuddin Mansoor, the governor of Badakhshan, traveled from Faizabad city to Yaftal district to examine the circumstances of the clash.<\/p>\n
The conflict between security forces and local residents occurred amid previous reports of tensions between people and local officials in some provinces. The casualties in this incident have raised concerns about the handling of local residents by security forces.<\/p>\n
Mullah Noorullah Noori, the acting Minister of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities, claimed that there is no ethnic or positional discrimination within the Taliban administration and that people in Badakhshan and Nimroz provinces are treated equally. He also stated that once the investigations are complete, those responsible for the incident will be held accountable under the law.<\/p>\n
