This influx has heightened concerns about increasing pressure on the country’s already limited employment opportunities and essential services.

Hamdullah Fetrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban administration, stated in a press release on Monday, August 10, that these families entered Afghanistan through the Torkham, Spin Boldak, Silk Bridge, and Islam Qala border crossings.

According to the press release, 215 families totaling 1,300 people returned via Torkham in Nangarhar province, while 20 families amounting to 72 individuals crossed through Spin Boldak in Kandahar. Additionally, 39 families with 177 persons came through the Silk Bridge in Nimroz, and seven families with 21 people entered via the Islam Qala crossing in Herat.

The migrant returns continue despite many returnees facing shortages of shelter, unemployment, and challenges in accessing healthcare and educational services.
