Simultaneously with the ongoing demolition of residential houses in Kabul\u2019s Omid-e Sabz neighborhood, Fawzia Kofi, a former member of Afghanistan\u2019s parliament, described this action as part of the Taliban administration\u2019s broader policy to change the country\u2019s social and ownership balance.<\/p>\n
On Friday, August 7, Kofi wrote on the social network X that seeing the images of destroyed homes in this neighborhood meant that \u201cwith every brick and wall that collapses, hundreds of memories and stories also disappear.\u201d She emphasized that she does not judge whether the documents of these homes are legal or illegal, but added that Omid-e Sabz is not the only neighborhood established in recent years, and similar examples have been created in different parts of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
The former politician considered the demolition of houses, land grabbing, and forced displacement of residents as part of a process that, according to her, has also been implemented under the name of settlement or return of migrants from Pakistan in provinces such as Faryab, Takhar, and Panjshir. She believes these actions aim to expand monopoly and alter the social and ownership fabric of the country.<\/p>\n
Kofi also questioned the legitimacy of the Taliban administration, writing that from the perspective of the Afghan people, the rule of this group lacks legal legitimacy.
