According to an informed source, he was arrested around 9:00 PM on Wednesday (August 5) from his home.

Taliban local authorities in Badakhshan have so far not provided any explanation for the arrest. However, a source told the Afghanistan Journalists Center that the journalist was likely detained due to posting a critical comment on his Facebook page, which condemned the Taliban forces’ treatment of Badakhshan residents.

The Afghanistan Journalists Center condemned this action and demanded the immediate release of Nazem Qasemi. The organization warned that continuing such actions would increasingly restrict the media environment.

According to the Center, at least four journalists and media workers are currently being held in Taliban prisons. Among them is Hamid Farhadi, a reporter for Etilaat-e-Roz newspaper, who was arrested in Kabul in September 2024 and subsequently sentenced by the Taliban court to two years in prison on charges related to his work with the newspaper.

Taliban detain Nazem Qasemi, a local Tolo News journalist, in Badakhshan, sparking concerns over increasing pressure on Afghan media workers.

[15,17

post-19183","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-culture","category-important-news
["GET
