As the fifth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power approaches, some residents of Ghazni province have criticized the continued closure of secondary and high schools for girls, as well as universities, and called for these restrictions to be lifted. According to these residents, including a religious scholar, educating women and girls is not only compatible with religious values but is also a fundamental need for societal growth. They have urged the Taliban administration to facilitate the reopening of schools and universities for girls.<\/p>\n
Residents of Ghazni emphasize that in recent years, families\u2019 interest in education has increased, and many wish to send their daughters to school, but the continuation of this ban has prevented this desire from being realized. According to a social activist, although relative security has been established in the country, depriving women of the right to education, study, and work seriously undermines social and human security.<\/p>\n
After regaining control over Afghanistan on August 15, 2021, the Taliban administration closed schools beyond the sixth grade for girls and later prohibited their attendance at universities.
