Iraq’s government delay in issuing travel permits for Afghan pilgrims has seriously disrupted their deployment to the Arbaeen Hosseini ceremonies, leaving many applicants in uncertain situations.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Nabi Ahmadi, head of the Arbaeen headquarters for Afghan nationals residing in Iran, stated that due to Baghdad’s delay in approving the list of 15,000 Afghan pilgrims, the process of sending these people has been postponed. According to him, despite this delay, the first group of pilgrims entered Iran yesterday to travel to Iraq via this route.<\/p>\n
Ahmadi emphasized that Iran had announced its readiness to issue double-entry visas from the start of the month of Safar, but the Iraqi government only approved the final list of pilgrims three days ago; he noted that this has been the main reason for the slowdown in the travel processes.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, reports indicate that thousands of Afghan pilgrims who registered weeks ago to participate in the Arbaeen ceremonies are still waiting to receive their visas and for clarity on their travel status.<\/p>\n
According to sources involved with pilgrimage affairs, despite the allocation of a quota of 15,000 pilgrims for Afghans, the permit issuance process has been delayed, causing some applicants, similar to last year, to miss the opportunity to attend the Arbaeen ceremonies.<\/p>\n
