However, this goal faces skepticism amid resource shortages and limited access to healthcare services.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ministry, the maternal mortality rate is set to decrease from 196 to 150 deaths per 100,000 live births, while the under-five child mortality rate aims to drop from 55 to 40 deaths per 1,000 children.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Public Health also claims that, under this program, coverage of essential health services will increase from 67% to 90%, and domestic drug production will rise to 90%.<\/p>\n<p>However, the World Health Organization previously warned that Afghanistan continues to face serious challenges in the health sector. It identified malnutrition, the spread of preventable diseases, financial shortages, and limited access to medical services as major problems, emphasizing that these factors could hinder the achievement of health program goals.<\/p>\n<p>Afghanistan has had some of the highest maternal and child mortality rates in the region in recent years.
