The Taliban administration has announced that currently 31 doctoral programs are active across five public universities in the country, and 116 master’s programs are offered in 10 public universities. According to this administration, the process of establishing 45 new master’s programs and 9 new doctoral programs in other public universities is underway.<\/p>\n
Based on information provided by the Department of Publications and Public Relations of the Acting Ministry of Higher Education under the Taliban, doctoral fields include Islamic Studies and Law, Language and Literature, Engineering, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Public Health and Microbiology, and Afghan Studies. The administration claims that since regaining power, it has developed a clear plan for the expansion of higher education and has taken practical steps in this regard.<\/p>\n
The Taliban administration has also mentioned the creation of the “International Islamic University of Afghanistan” as part of its higher education expansion plan and stated that new postgraduate programs will gradually become active in public universities.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, several university professors emphasize that increasing the number of master’s and doctoral programs without strengthening academic and educational capacities will not yield desired results. They argue that greater investment in higher education, improving teaching quality, and enhancing research infrastructure are essential for training specialists.<\/p>\n
