An explosion of a mortar shell’s warhead in Jalalabad claimed the life of one child. The incident took place in the Sarkh Diwal area of Jalalabad city, the capital of Nangarhar province. According to local sources, the explosion occurred when two children, while herding animals, came into contact with a mortar warhead left over from previous conflicts.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson for the Nangarhar police media office stated that as a result of the explosion, an 11-year-old child was killed and a 9-year-old child was wounded. The injured child was transferred to the Nangarhar regional hospital for treatment and is reported to be in good condition.<\/p>\n
Security officials have urged residents of the province to prevent their children from handling bullets, warheads, and suspicious objects, and to inform security agencies if they come across such materials.<\/p>\n
