Amid reports of clashes between Taliban administration forces and armed groups in parts of Badakhshan province, the governor has warned that no faction or group will be allowed to threaten Afghanistan’s security.<\/p>\n
According to local officials, the clashes began after an armed group attempted to enter parts of Zibak district. The Chief of Staff of the Taliban Ministry of Defense announced that the incidents have been contained and the security situation in the area is under control.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Ismail Ghaznawi, the governor of Badakhshan, said in a meeting in the province that despite previous support from NATO and the United States, the Taliban’s opponents have not succeeded and, according to him, will not be able to return to power. He added that opponents can express their concerns through dialogue and that the Taliban administration’s “door” is open to them.<\/p>\n
Addressing the opponents, Ghaznawi stated: “Leave these people alone. We know how to fight you. You can take your desire to govern the country with you to the grave; but I advise you not to do so.”<\/p>\n
Some participants in the meeting also remarked that those who have not taken advantage of the general amnesty and continue opposing the Taliban do not have the capacity to confront the administration. Abdul Jamil Sayas, head of Takhar University, said that messages of reconciliation and amnesty have been offered multiple times to opponents, but they have not taken this opportunity.<\/p>\n
At the same time, several residents of Badakhshan emphasized that war is not the solution and the parties should resolve their differences through dialogue. Saifullah Shakuryar, a resident of the province, said that war only claims the lives of poor people and builds nothing.<\/p>\n
