Jamshid Khawjaev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, announced during his visit to Kabul that his country has issued 5,000 visas to Afghan citizens this year and that efforts to facilitate visa issuance further are ongoing. He also revealed Tashkent’s commitment to purchasing 100,000 tons of cotton from Afghan farmers.<\/p>\n
According to Khawjaev, the feasibility studies for the “Afghan-Trans” project have been completed, and a technical team from Uzbekistan will remain in Kabul to coordinate the export of fresh Afghan fruits. He added that Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate in supplying chemical fertilizers, improved seeds, and attracting Uzbek investors to Afghanistan’s infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n
Ahmad Jan Bilal, General Director of Emirati Companies under the Taliban administration, highlighted the rise in trade relations, noting that trade volume between the two countries reached around two billion dollars in the past year. He called for further easing of trade and tourist visas, expansion of fresh fruit exports to Central Asia, and acceleration of the Afghan-Trans project’s implementation.<\/p>\n
In another meeting, Mullah Muhammad Fazil Mazloom, Acting Minister of Transport and Aviation for the Taliban administration, discussed transit cooperation development with Alim Makhkamov, Uzbekistan\u2019s Minister of Transport. The Uzbek minister promised to provide more facilities to increase Afghan transit vehicle movement.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Ataullah Omari, Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of the Taliban administration, invited Uzbek investors to invest in Afghanistan’s agriculture and livestock sectors. Both sides agreed to form a joint technical team to follow up on agricultural agreements.<\/p>\n
