Volker T\u00fcrk, an Austrian lawyer and a seasoned UN official, has during his tenure criticized Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine and Israel\u2019s actions in Gaza. He has also called for investigations into deaths at immigrant detention centers in the United States\u2014stances that have elicited negative reactions from Moscow, Tel Aviv, and Washington.<\/p>\n
