The Taliban’s Emergency Management Authority reported on Tuesday, July 21, an increase in casualties from the recent floods in Nuristan province, stating that the death toll has risen to 23, with 80 others injured.<\/p>\n
Taj Mohammad Hemmat, the deputy spokesperson for the authority, said that so far, 15 bodies have been recovered from the debris, and search and rescue operations are ongoing. He added that nearly 100 people are still missing.<\/p>\n
The Taliban authority also claimed that as a result of the floods, seven houses were completely destroyed, and 23 others were partially damaged.<\/p>\n
According to officials from the authority, 70 shops, 40 motor vehicles (both light and heavy), and 11 hotels were also either fully or partially damaged in the incident.
