Construction has commenced on a large bridge spanning the Helmand River in Kajaki district of Helmand province. The bridge is intended to facilitate travel for residents of the northern districts of Helmand to the provincial center.<\/p>\n
This project, funded by the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works with a budget of 180 million Afghanis, is scheduled to be completed within two years. The goal of building this bridge is to improve trade, the transportation of commercial goods, and to ease movement for residents on both sides of the Helmand River.<\/p>\n
Engineer Gul Ahmad Wiyar, Head of Work and Construction at Helmand’s Public Works Department, stated that the bridge will be constructed to standard specifications, measuring 280 meters in length and 10 meters in width.<\/p>\n
Local residents have reported that the absence of this bridge in past years caused serious difficulties for the people.
