Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan’s representative and ambassador to the United Nations, has expressed support for the armed group ‘Sepahiyan-e-Mihan’s recent attack on the Yaftal Payan district in Badakhshan province. He described the assault as a symbol of ‘resistance’ against the Taliban administration. On Friday, July 17, Andisha posted on the social media platform X that recent events demonstrate that ‘oppression and captivity will not take root in this land.’ <\/p>\n
The newly formed group’s attack on Yaftal Payan has triggered a wave of political reactions. Several prominent political figures in Afghanistan have voiced their support for the group’s actions, while reports of civilian arrests by the Taliban administration following the incident have drawn widespread criticism.<\/p>\n
Referring to developments in Badakhshan, Andisha emphasized that ‘the voice of resistance and steadfastness is heard from the heart of the Hindu Kush,’ calling the people of Yaftal the ‘guardians of Afghanistan’s freedom.’ He added that these events show that attempts to impose oppression and repression in the country will be met with resistance.<\/p>\n
The Afghan representative in Geneva also wrote, ‘History will record these sacrifices,’ criticizing those who, in his view, have remained silent in the face of the current situation. These remarks come as the Taliban administration has yet to officially clarify the details and consequences of the attack.<\/p>\n
