The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has stated that educating girls can create new hope and opportunities for Afghanistan, emphasizing that investing in this area is essentially investing in the country\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, July 16, OCHA posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account that girls\u2019 access to education plays a decisive role in improving Afghanistan\u2019s social and economic conditions. The international agency stressed that depriving girls of schooling will have long-term consequences for the entire society.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, OCHA also shared the concerns of a mother from Bamyan province, who fears that her daughter\u2019s future will be darkened by the ongoing denial of education and that she will lose vital life opportunities.<\/p>\n
Since the Taliban\u2019s return to power, girls above the sixth grade have been barred from attending school, and strict restrictions have been imposed on higher education, women\u2019s employment, and their movement without a male chaperone. These policies have drawn widespread domestic and international criticism, and human rights organizations have continuously called for the immediate lifting of educational restrictions on girls.<\/p>\n
