The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has stated that providing vocational training for Afghanistan\u2019s youth could pave the way for a better future for them, a matter that has gained even greater importance amid rising unemployment and poverty.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, July 15, coinciding with the International Youth Skills Day, UNICEF released images from a sewing workshop in Afghanistan. According to UNICEF, these programs have been launched with the support of the European Union delegation in Afghanistan, aiming to enhance the work skills of young people across various regions of the country.<\/p>\n
UNICEF emphasized that investing in practical skills can increase income-generating opportunities and reduce families\u2019 dependence on humanitarian aid\u2014especially in a country where a large part of the population is composed of youth.<\/p>\n
However, Afghanistan\u2019s youth\u2014particularly girls\u2014continue to face serious challenges. United Nations agencies report that more than 60 percent of the country’s population is young, but restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration on women’s education and employment have significantly limited girls’ access to educational and job opportunities.<\/p>\n
