Afghanistan has historically been one of Pakistan’s key markets for agricultural products, but this year, no Pakistani mango shipments have been sent there. The repeated border closures between Pakistan and the Taliban administration in recent months have also severely damaged bilateral trade.

Dawn further notes that the war in Iran has disrupted maritime shipping routes and increased freight costs, leading to reduced mango exports from Pakistan to Gulf countries. Higher transportation fees have diminished the competitiveness of Pakistani exporters in regional markets.

In addition to these factors, climate change has dealt a serious blow to production. Rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, severe storms, and the spread of plant pests have caused a noticeable decline in both the quality and quantity of mango yields. Pakistani experts estimate that mango production has decreased by 20 to 30 percent in the current season.

The report warns that declining exports, reduced domestic demand, and rising production costs have sharply lowered the profitability of mango growers. If this trend continues, it could threaten the sustainability of Pakistan’s horticulture and fruit production industry — a sector that serves as a primary source of income for thousands of people in the country.

Pakistan’s mango industry faces severe losses due to export decline, border closures, war disruptions, and climate change impacts on production.

[7,17

post-17397","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
