Abdullah Rahimi, former Deputy National Security Chief of Ghor Province, was killed in a shooting attack yesterday evening while performing the Isha prayer in a mosque in Taywara district, near his home. This marks the third assassination of former military personnel in Ghor within the past month, raising growing concerns about the security of individuals linked to the previous regime.<\/p>\n
Rahimi was a jihadi commander close to Ibrahim Malikzada, a former member of the House of Representatives and a prominent figure of the Islamic Society of Afghanistan. In the previous government, he served as Deputy National Security Chief of Ghor and also as the district security chief of Taywara.<\/p>\n
Earlier, approximately two weeks ago, Mohammad Hussain, the former police chief of Shahrak district in Ghor, was shot dead by unidentified armed men near Herat airport. Additionally, Sirajuddin, another commander affiliated with Ibrahim Malikzada and former police officer in Taywara, was killed by armed motorcycle riders outside his home in the Payhisar area of the district.<\/p>\n
Security experts regard these incidents as clear contradictions to the “general amnesty” decree announced by the Taliban administration. Aziz Stanikzai states that Afghanistan has endured decades of war, yet hostilities and conflicts persist. Bismillah Taban, a security researcher, links these killings to Taliban elements and describes them as unforgivable crimes.<\/p>\n
Despite the recurring assassinations, no individual or group has claimed responsibility, and the Taliban administration has not provided any clarification. This silence continues amid unanswered questions regarding how the security of former military personnel will be ensured and how the general amnesty will be implemented.<\/p>\n
Previously, Yaser Hosseini and Hashmatullah, two former army members, were killed in Kapisa and Daikundi provinces respectively.
