The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) has issued a warning in its latest report that funding cuts are severely threatening the operation of women\u2019s organizations in Afghanistan and several other crisis-affected countries. This situation could limit access to vital services for millions of women and girls.<\/p>\n
According to the report, these organizations are on the frontlines of some of the world\u2019s most severe humanitarian crises, providing essential services including health, psychological, and protection support to women and girls. However, the reduction in financial resources has significantly diminished their operational capacity.<\/p>\n
Sofia Katusp, Head of Humanitarian Action at UN Women, stated that women\u2019s organizations continue to operate under the most challenging conditions and play a key role in addressing urgent needs. She emphasized that continued budget cuts could have direct consequences on the lives of women and girls in crisis-affected areas.<\/p>\n
In Afghanistan, this warning comes amid extensive restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration over recent years, which have drastically limited women\u2019s and girls\u2019 access to education, employment, and social services.
