According to the official tariff list from Kabul Municipality, the price of each liter of petrol has risen from 66 to 77 Afghanis, diesel from 65 to 73 Afghanis, and each kilogram of liquefied gas from 56 to 64 Afghanis, an increase that citizens say is putting direct pressure on their daily expenses.

Several drivers report that during this period prices have risen and fallen multiple times, but the decreases were short-lived and minor. They note that in some instances, the price per liter of fuel increased by up to 9 Afghanis and then only dropped by 2 Afghanis before jumping again by 8 Afghanis. This situation has made economic planning difficult for families and small businesses.

Residents of Kabul also complain about the continual price hikes, stating that the rising fuel costs have affected transportation fares and the prices of basic goods. They expect the Taliban administration to exercise more effective market oversight and prevent destabilizing fluctuations.

Representatives of the private sector attribute the price increases to various factors, including reduced supply, increased global demand, higher transportation costs, import restrictions on fuel from Iran, reduced Russian oil exports, and diminished reserves in Turkmenistan. They explain that approximately 18,000 tons of imported fuel from Iran have been halted at border crossings due to quality standard requirements.

Khan Jan Alkozai, an advisor to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, has described the situation as concerning, emphasizing that despite a relative easing of global tensions compared to wartime periods, the price surge places heavy burdens on the public. He has called on the Taliban administration and the private sector to take practical and immediate measures to stabilize the market and prevent ongoing fluctuations.

Afghanistan imports the majority of its fuel needs from Central Asian countries and Iran. Any disruption in import routes or changes in the global energy market directly impact the domestic market. However, experts stress that effective market management and transparency in the import process can reduce the severity of these fluctuations on citizens.

Petrol prices in Kabul have risen sharply amid ongoing fuel market fluctuations, impacting daily expenses and prompting calls for better market regulation.

[7,17

post-17191","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
