Pakistani government sources have announced that Islamabad and Doha have initiated fresh contacts with Tehran and Washington to facilitate a halt to military conflicts and a return to the negotiating table based on the “Islamabad Agreement.” Despite renewed tensions, these sources remain optimistic about preserving and implementing the understanding.<\/p>\n
A source close to the mediation process told Anadolu Agency that Pakistan, in cooperation with Qatar, is striving to persuade both parties to end hostilities and resume dialogue within the agreed framework. The source emphasized that the immediate priority of the mediators under the current conditions is to reduce tensions and stop attacks.<\/p>\n
The Islamabad Agreement was signed last month between the presidents of Iran and the United States, granting both countries a 60-day window to reach a final agreement to permanently end the months-long conflict. However, recent military developments have challenged the implementation of this understanding.<\/p>\n
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to recent incidents in the Strait of Hormuz, stated that US attacks in the past 48 hours, allegedly related to several passing ships, constitute a violation of the United Nations Charter and contradict the provisions of the memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war. The ministry added that such actions are inconsistent with the commitments accepted under the Islamabad Agreement.<\/p>\n
Simultaneously, Pakistani sources said that before the latest round of clashes began, technical delegations from Iran and the US were scheduled to meet in Islamabad within one to two weeks. Although the situation has changed, Pakistan remains hopeful that, if tensions decrease, it can host the next round of technical talks.<\/p>\n
