He passed away late Monday night, at the age of 38, in a hospital in India after a period of illness.<\/p>\n<p>The body of Shapoor Zadran was transferred from India to Kabul on Wednesday evening. To welcome his body, several current and former players of the Afghanistan national cricket team, along with a group of cricket fans, gathered at Kabul airport.<\/p>\n<p>The International Cricket Council (ICC), in a statement, described the death of this former player as a great loss to the cricket community and emphasized that Shapoor Zadran, as one of the influential figures of Afghan cricket, will remain in memories.<\/p>\n<p>Shapoor Zadran was considered one of the prominent faces of the first generation of the Afghanistan national cricket team; a generation that played a crucial role in the growth, consolidation, and introduction of cricket in the country in international competitions and paved the way for Afghanistan&#8217;s presence on the big global stages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shapoor Zadran, former Afghan cricket star, has died at 38.
