The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Wednesday that, according to initial reports, more than 2.3 million people gathered solely in the city of Najaf for the funeral procession of Grand Ayatollah Martyr Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei (may his soul rest in peace). According to the PMF, the wave of mourners continues, with more people joining the ceremony.<\/p>\n
In a statement released by the PMF, it was noted that these figures relate to the early hours of the event in Najaf and are expected to increase. The ceremony saw a large turnout from residents of various Iraqi cities as well as pilgrims.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Al Mayadeen network reported that the province of Karbala is also on high alert, witnessing a massive presence of people. Approximately seven million people have gathered in the city to bid farewell to the martyr leader alongside transferring his body, holding ceremonies near the shrines of Imam Hussein and Hazrat Abbas (peace be upon them).<\/p>\n
