According to him, these projects could provide housing, schools, electricity, clean drinking water, and job opportunities for returnees and internally displaced persons.

He emphasized that aid should shift focus from short-term relief programs to sustainable infrastructure projects in order to meet the essential needs of thousands of returning families. Many returnees in several provinces currently face shortages of shelter, healthcare services, and employment opportunities.

In recent years, waves of returning Afghan migrants and increasing numbers of internally displaced persons have put additional strain on the country’s limited infrastructure. Despite this, the Taliban administration has yet to present a comprehensive and transparent plan for the sustainable resettlement and integration of these families, leaving much of the burden on humanitarian agencies.

The United Nations and its partners have previously stressed that humanitarian aid must be based on field assessments and the immediate needs of the population. It remains unclear how this new request from the Taliban administration will be received by the international donors.

Taliban deputy PM Mullah Baradar urges UN and international groups to focus aid on sustainable projects supporting returnees and displaced Afghans.

[4,8

post-17009","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics","category-social-affairs
["GET
