The Taliban administration announced the opening of a DNA diagnostic laboratory aimed at detecting and investigating crimes within the Ministry of Interior. Nuralhaq Anwar, General Director of the Taliban Administration, stated at the inauguration ceremony that access to advanced equipment can facilitate the process of crime detection, identification, and proof, assisting security and judicial institutions to operate more successfully. He emphasized that addressing complex crimes is impossible without the use of modern technologies.<\/p>\n
Based on the released information, the biology and DNA laboratory will be used to compare samples from suspects with biological evidence and to conduct specialized investigations in criminal cases.<\/p>\n
Forensic experts have consistently stressed that the use of scientific technologies in crime detection is only effective when combined with transparency, professional standards, and independent oversight\u2014issues that face challenges in the current environment with limited access to information.<\/p>\n
Previously, the first DNA testing laboratory was established in 2019 (1398 Solar Hijri) within the Ministry of Public Health. Ferozuddin Feroz, then Minister of Public Health, stated that this technology, besides identifying criminals and exonerating innocent people, is useful for confirming identity, determining family relationships, and some medical examinations.<\/p>\n
