The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense announced that Mawlavi Mohammadiyaqub Mujahid, the Defense Minister, emphasized the strengthening of religious education, raising academic standards, and preserving Islamic and national values during his visit to Badakhshan province. He made these remarks while visiting the Darul Uloom Shaheed Mawlavi Mohammad Amin (RA) in Warduj district.<\/p>\n
According to a press release from the Ministry’s media office, Qari Fasihuddin Fetrat, the Chief of Staff of the Taliban Armed Forces, was also present on this visit. The Defense Minister met with the officials, teachers, and students of this religious school, listened to their problems and suggestions, and stressed support for religious schools.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Defense stated that he recognized the significant role of scholars and religious schools in the intellectual and moral upbringing of society and assured that the Taliban administration will continue cooperating with and supporting these institutions.<\/p>\n
This comes amid criticism in recent years regarding the Taliban’s heavy focus on religious education.
