The United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF) has stated that targeted support for girls in Afghanistan can provide them with a safer future. On Thursday, July 2, UNICEF emphasized on its X page that teaching skills such as sewing plays an important role in boosting girls\u2019 self-confidence.<\/p>\n
UNICEF added that, with support from the European Union delegation in Afghanistan, opportunities are being created to teach practical skills to girls. According to the organization, such programs can help enhance the individual and social empowerment of girls.<\/p>\n
This comes amid widespread restrictions imposed on girls and women in Afghanistan since the Taliban regained power. These include bans on education beyond sixth grade and the closure of many workplaces, such as the prohibition of female-run beauty salons.<\/p>\n
