The United States Southern Command has announced the deployment of over 900 military personnel inside Venezuela and nearly 800 more in the Caribbean region to support rescue and relief operations following deadly earthquakes in Venezuela.<\/p>\n
General Francis Donovan, commander of these forces, stated that the mission of the US troops is focused on facilitating aid delivery, assessing road accessibility, and identifying damaged areas. He added that these forces will remain in Venezuela until the completion of their humanitarian mission.<\/p>\n
Reuters reported on Tuesday, June 30, that the US military continues to operate four to five drones over Venezuela to monitor transportation routes and assess the damage to buildings in order to accelerate relief efforts.<\/p>\n
The report noted that this deployment comes just months after a previous US operation aimed at apprehending Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, Venezuela\u2019s former president, which US officials described as a significant achievement.<\/p>\n
