Breshna Company and National Development Company have signed a memorandum of understanding emphasizing joint implementation of electricity infrastructure projects and the development of energy infrastructure in Afghanistan. This initiative aims to increase domestic production and improve electricity supply in the country.<\/p>\n
Breshna Company, in a press release, announced that the agreement was signed to expand bilateral cooperation in short-term and long-term electricity sector programs and to expedite energy infrastructure development. According to this memorandum, both parties will cooperate closely in designing and implementing projects related to electricity generation and transmission.<\/p>\n
Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, CEO of Breshna Company, stated at the signing ceremony that this document can be an important step toward the development of the electricity industry and emphasized greater coordination among national institutions to advance infrastructure projects. Abdul Rahman Atash, General Director of the National Development Company, also described this cooperation as vital for realizing major energy plans.<\/p>\n
Breshna added that currently dozens of major electricity projects are underway in several provinces of the country, and completing them will meet part of the domestic demand. However, Afghanistan still imports a large portion of its required electricity from neighboring countries, a dependency that has made the country’s economy vulnerable to political and technical fluctuations for years.<\/p>\n
The Taliban administration has declared the development of domestic electricity production and the expansion of transmission networks as priorities. Nonetheless, citizens in many areas continue to face persistent shortages and power outages.
