A day after Pakistani airstrikes targeted parts of eastern Afghanistan, Noorullah Nuri, Taliban’s Minister of Borders, stated that safeguarding Afghanistan’s security and territorial integrity remains the administration’s top priority. According to Nuri, “no one will be allowed” to disrupt the country’s security.<\/p>\n
Nuri made these remarks at a conference in Kabul attended by several Shiite religious scholars. He said that any aggressor who has “looked at Afghanistan with a negative perspective” has been defeated, and this should serve as a lesson and warning to others.<\/p>\n
The Taliban’s Minister of Borders also urged the public to maintain national unity and support the administration’s governance. He said, “The Islamic system will protect the people, and the people will defend the Islamic system.”<\/p>\n
These statements come amid a renewed wave of Pakistani airstrikes hitting eastern provinces of Afghanistan for the second time this month. The continued attacks have raised concerns among local residents and sparked questions about how the country’s borders can be secured.<\/p>\n
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that the Sunday night strikes killed 28 civilians and injured 49 others. Pakistani officials, in contrast, claimed that the operations targeted the hideouts of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar groups, asserting that 25 members of these groups were killed.<\/p>\n
